4Assist has had the honour of supporting World Food Programme (under 4 related and consecutive contracts), from September 2021 to December 2023, in transitioning the WFP-funded School Feeding Programmes over to partner governments. This required assessing public financial management (PFM) and institutional capacity needed by the target countries to enable nationally-owned and sustainable School Feeding.
We collaborated closely with WFP colleagues under the overarching objective to support both regional and country WFP offices staff understand, assess and help improve PFM and Institutional Capacity for the strategic shift to sustainable nationally-funded school feeding programmes. The utmost goal of these programmes is to provide a free meal on every school day, improving nutrition, promoting school enrolment and school attendance.
